Honeycomb Cereal Matching

The Beehive printout below came from Mailbox Magazine (an AWESOME magazine!)  I highly recommend it!!  The children matched honeycomb cereal to the shapes.

Insects/Nature

Caterpillars & Ladybugs
During our Nature week (last week Insects) we made
these little critters. We also learned about circles, too.

Bugs Life

These are teacher made Bug's Life wall decorations
(for Insect week)

Bugs in Grass

The toddlers practiced cutting slits onto the green
paper (at top) and added the foam bugs stickers.

Butterfly Garden Number Matching

Count the dots on the butterflies and match to the same # of flowers.  This is another activity that came from Mailbox Magazine.

Insects

Toddler Insect Art

Above, each child painted a circle with green paint.
Below, we made ladybugs using paper plates,
red paint, pipe cleaners, black construction
paper dots, and wiggly eyes.
You could also use styrofoam bowls instead
of plates to create a more 3D like ladybug.

and...

We used bug erasers for this sorting activity.
The cups are clean/empty Delmonte fruit cups.

April Showers Bulletin Board

   
We marble painted raindrop cutouts and finger painted umbrella cutouts. I took the children's picture holding up an umbrella... see below. I cut their photo out and added the finger painted umbrella in place of the real umbrella in the photo.  We then finger painted with brown paint onto a large sheet of paper covering the table. Added construction paper flowers to our board at the bottom.

We colored designs on our eggs first using crayons...
then with watered down paint we colored the eggs.

Here are the kiddos playing the Pre-K Fun Jelly Bean
Graphing activitiy. You can scroll down to find the free

Using water color paints to decorate Easter Egg cutouts.
I used cardstock for the eggs so they wouldn't be so flimsy.

More Easter Fun

Add a couple drops of food coloring to your milk
to make some delicious "Easter" milk for the kiddos.

We fingerpainted bunny shapes with chocolate
pudding to make Chocolate Easter Bunnies.


Here is our Paper Mache' Easter Egg.
I blew up a balloon and tied it, then cut several strips
of newspaper. Made a flour/water paste mixture. The
children dipped the newspaper strips into the flour
and water paste mixture and placed each strip over
the balloon. When the balloon was dry, we painted
our balloon egg. Once the paper mache' is completely
dry, you can pop the balloon using a pair of scissors.

Tot Trays

Havin' fun with Tot Trays!

I have finally given in to the Tot Tray Craze...
here are some pics from last Wednesday's Tot Trays.

Here is a fun Easter Egg Memory Game.
The child flips the cards over to find the matches.

I drew a shape on the bottom of each plastic chick
egg and also matching shape inside each egg cup in
the carton. Child matches the shape on bottom of
chick to the matching shape in egg carton. I found
these cute little plastic chick eggs at Target.

Here is a Spotted Sorting activity. Child sorts
the ladybug erasers on one side and the dalmations
to the other side. Then we count which has most.

Using plastic tweezers (from a toy Dr. Kit)
the child picks out the colored pom poms
and sorts them by color. This is always
a favorite among my group of kids.

I found these cute lil' bunnies at K-Mart.
It is similar to the Barrels of Monkeys game.
Child hooks the bunny ears together to form chain.

I had some small foam ovals left over from another activity
and hole punched each one for the children to lace them
onto a pipe cleaner. We twisted ends to make bracelets.

Here is a simple color matching activity. I
mixed up the egg pcs. and encouraged child
to put them together to form one solid color.

I set out a pair of scissors and let my
two yr. olds practice their cutting skills.

I set out two different types of clothes pins for child to clip
onto side of the wooden box. This is a wonderful small
motor acitivity to work on pinching/grasping skills.

flower to the shape on the pot.

Working on lesson planning today... I will post some more
Easter activities later this evening. We are planning to
have our big Easter Egg Hunt on Friday so I'll
have to get things ready for that soon, too.

Past Easter Activities

I made these cute lil' bunny chair covers for the party.
I used large pcs. of white paper (the size of posterboard).
Folded in half to form a slipcover... slid them over the
chairs. Then I folded the corners and added pink bunny
ears and facial features. It was a last minute thing...
I'm hoping my bunnies will look better next time.

Each child received one of these "goody
bags" to put all ther Easter goodies in.

We used a paper plate and a styrofoam bowl, ribbon,
lots of artificial flowers, and markers to decorate our
Easter bonnets. We used ribbon/lace to tie onto head.

Doesn't she look beautiful in her Easter bonnet?

These darling Easter baskets were made from
construction paper and shredded paper Easter grass.

Our very special visitor!!

Here the children are eating their Easter snack.
Lined up behind them are all the Easter goody
bags. Each child made one to carry their eggs
and candy home with them. We have the
parents sign up to bring treats for the party.

We traced one foot to create the bunnies body
and added the other features with a glue stick.

One of our games during the Easter party, was to pass
the "plastic" Easter egg to your partner using a plastic
spoon and NOT your hands. They LOVED this game!!

We painted these eggs using corn syrup and food
coloring mixture. Watch out... it's very MESSY!!

I printed a bunny head onto cardstock and cut a long
strip of cardstock for the band to create these bunny
headbands. The kids enjoyed decorating their bunnies.
